8/6/2008:
While there’s been some discussion of Hoboken Dentists within the directory, one 411 reader would like some suggestions!

Hoboken Dentist recommendations?
“Good Afternoon,
I was hoping Hoboken411 and it’s readers could help me find a Dentist in Hoboken. My Dentist from home is a bit far so I wanted to find one close. I am looking for a good Dentist, reasonably priced, nice clean updated office, and very friendly because I am scared of the Dentist and need some work done!
PS, I love your website!”

Hands down best around…Dr.Baines in Jersey City on Central Ave. 201-659-5030 Any of The 3 Baines dentists’ are excellent the dad is very old school and classic but the brothers are more modern and understanding to a younger crowd. Great service, clean areas, and affordable/flexible payments. Accommodating hrs. also Tue./Thurs. are till 7pm.

I would seriously reconsider- Dr.Paul is very pushy, rude and unprofessional (he numbed my mouth 2x because he was so busy running around his tiny Mall quarters the medicine wore off so I stormed out leading me to find Dr.Baines). Oh and the girls who sit at the desk supposedly “working”, are very entertaining you will catch up on any old gossip or patient records being discussed or laying around! I have yet to find someone who compliments Newport Dental!!

I use Dr. Stephen Goodman on Washington and 5th and Washington. Very nice, does everything himself, and have never had to wait.

Yep, Dr. Stephen Goodman is fantastic. He has an early morning checkup slot that gets me in at 7 AM and out by 7:40 AM. Very efficient and friendly. I’ve also had some old fillings replaced by Dr. Goodman and his work was great.

I had a similar thing happen with Dr. Marciano. Went to him for about 3 years back in the late 90’s. Never used to have cavities, but every time I went there, they said I had 2 or 3, and I trusted them and had them filled (and paid out of pocket). The last time I went, they said I had 4, and I finally got suspicious, so I went to another dentist, and he said I had none. It’s been about 8 or 9 years now, and I’ve yet to have another cavity. Should’ve reported them to the state. F*cking criminals. Drilling holes in my teeth unnecessarily to make a buck. Bottom line, you can’t even trust a licensed professional. You put your faith in these people, and they take advantage of you. And even if they’re not trying to fill your teeth unnecessarily, they want to sell you a night guard, or whitening, or straightening, or whatever. Beware.

ya and apparently they dont accept that xray print out as an Xray anywhere else. I went to her and she said I needed a surgery so had to go else where with her X ray copy. The other Dr had to take another X ray (real one) and charged me for it

I use Dr. Lynch on 4th Street, just across from Church Square Park. The office is never over-crowded, so rarely, if ever, much of a wait. The staff is really polite & I never have trouble getting an appointment. She also (as most dentists in Hoboken do) Invisalign and BrightSmile.

Hands down the best I’ve been to:
Frank R DePaola & Associates
1209 Hudson St, Hoboken, New Jersey
(201) 792-9400
I’m a wimp in the dentist’s chair and even managed a root canal — first and hopefully last for a long while but they are great. Nothing but positive things to say.

I see Dr. Patricia Lynch on 4th Street and am happy with her and her office. Several years ago, her hygienist taught me better techniques for brushing and flossing, and I have had only 2 tiny cavities since then, whereas before I had a root canal that later developed into gum inflammation.
Over the years, she also replaced the mercury amalgam fillings in my mouth (the silver ones) with far less toxic tooth-colored composite.

Dr. Sharon Stern, 710 Washington Street. I have been going to her for years. She is always pleasant and very gentle, not pushy. I once had a problem with a filling that she had done and went back to see if there was a problem. She did some adjustments (or whatever) and when I went to pay there was no charge. I expected to pay being that I didn’t think it was her problem but I thought it was great when they said it was considered a correction and I should not have to pay.

Do not go to Dental Associates of Hoboken!! This is the worst dentist I have ever been to!!! He has terrible bedside manner, he is always in a rush and always makes you wait. I have been back three times for one tooth. At first he thought it was a cavity… then he said I needed a crown, and then he said I needed a root canal… a year and over 3k later… it still hurts! The best/worst part about it is that I moved, and since my deductable for my insurance was eaten up on this one tooth, they sent me to collections for $110!!! They didn’t event call and let me know that I owed them money! You would think that they could have placed a call… but then again looking back it is par for the course. DON’T GO!! YOU WILL BE IN MORE PAIN!!

Dr. Lynch kept trying to push enamel colored filings to replace the filings in the back of my mouth. SCAM. There is wrong with my filings, she just wants the extra cash that the extra work requires.
There is no medical necessity for this procedure, only her bottom line.
Additionally, she seemed rushed at the end of the day and spent all of 5 minutes after I said I did not want the unnecessary work.

KOR, we’ll have to agree to disagree on whether removal of mercury amalgam fillings is beneficial. I’m glad I did it. YMMV.
When I started the process, it was probably 15-20 years ago, and only at my request. She was the third dentist I discussed it with, and the first that was open-minded and didn’t try to talk me out of it. Looking back, I believe that most dentists had never done the procedure before and were unwilling to admit that they were afraid of getting it wrong.

Anyone use Dr. Glatt over by the PATH recently? Haven’t been to him for years, but had a lot of work done 4-5 years ago and he was great…

I highly recommend Dr. Farag on 12th and washington. She is gentle, patient, and very accomodating. This coming from a dentist-phobia person.

Agreed - Dental Associates of Hoboken blows - you would be better off going to Captain Hook for your dental work
