Free Dog Party

The Church @ Hoboken will be celebrating its 1st Annual Dog Party at Church Square Park in Hoboken on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. (better not drink too much the night before…) The Dog Party will be an admission free event where dog-lovers will have the opportunity to sign-in their dogs to compete in various contests (e.g. biggest dog, smallest dog, best costume etc.). The event will simultaneously provide pet owners and the general public a variety of kiosks including things such as local dog day care providers, free cotton candy, face painting, and much more! For more info visit www.hobokenwired.com.

I had a Great Dane/Doberman dog that I tried to put a black leather biker’s jacket on when I was a kid when Terminator came out. He didn’t like it. And since he outweighed me, I didn’t try it again.

Is someone just jealous that they don’t have an animal to bring to the park?

You do realize that not everyone dresses their dog up. Right? At the last dog event I think I saw a total of 2 in costume…but you probably knew that already.
I do have a dog, I just don’t torture him by dressing him up and taking him to “dog parties.” The kind of people that attend dog birthday parties and these types of events are exactly the kind of people I would never want to be around. And I LOVE animals, just some dog owners are flat out FREAKS.
what type of people is that? social people? i can see your dilemma.

just kidding. i agree about the people that dress up their dogs, but that’s fewer people than you think, and more typically, it’s people that have the smaller “toy” dogs. i don’t know anyone that dresses up their rottweiler or lab.

While attending the 1994 Gator National Drag Race in Gainesville, Fla., an announcement was made for the owners of an ’94 Buick station wagon to please get their dog out of the car. Fifteen minutes later, a new announcement: “For the owners of the ’94 Buick station wagon, we have good news and bad news. The good news is, your dog is fine. The bad news is, your passenger side window is now broken.”

Everyone in the stands cheered! — 😛

I truly am an animal lover too. I own 2 dogs, 5 cats, hamster, ferret and 3 finches (I would have a horse, but, it is Hoboken). I am ALL for Doggie Birthday Parties, believe me I have had/attended a few too. I must agree though, some(NOT all) owners do not have common sense (leaving dogs in a car with no a/c or window down for instance). Under NO circumstance should a dog be “dressed up” in this kind of weather. Most all dogs have a permanent fur coat. Would you wear a fur coat (coat at all) in 80+ degrees with added accessories (costume)? Again, Have the party! All enjoy! Have plenty of treats, shade and water for these pets PLEASE!!
