Homeless stick-fight near Starbucks

“Calls out the wazoo” are coming in to Hoboken Police about a homeless “stick fight” near the Starbucks at Newark and Hudson Streets.
“Two males with sticks, one is bleeding.”
There was at least one arrest, and one of the participants is notorious Hoboken homeless man “Duffy.”

so i should do something to force the HPD to enforce the laws? well, i have called the HPD to remove sleeping drunks in front of my building. i have stopped the HPD on the street to point out a guy urinating on a building on Washington st in broad daylight. i have called HPD 2-3 times to pick up a guy passed out on the corner opposite Luca Brassi’s. i have stopped HPD to point out the guy falling down on the sidewalk with a bottle of Popov in his hand (he turned out to be the pedophile.) so how exactly does one “force” the police to enforce the laws? complain to your elected officials? i think they read this site. and by “spweing” here i am helping to create public awareness. no? so gfy.

no shi1thead-e i do not work for an insurance company. and if you had the attention span of a gnat you would clearly see that my suggestions have been consistant. i want the shelter closed. those that are mentally unstable like yourself shall be placed in institutions. those who are drug addicts shall get the same. those who are really criminals on the lamb shall be imprisoned. those that are illegals shall be deported. the others? send them back to NYC.

Institutionalize the mentally ill? I suppose we agree, but hospitals cost thousands a day and sometimes they need to be forced to take their medicine for a few weeks, then coudl get back on their feet IF THEY HAD A PLACE TO LIVE.
If they don’t, the hospital eventually will release them, they will end up back on the street and then go BACK off their medicine.
Hence: THE SHELTER!!!
The shelter has long-term goals to keep people medicated, getting job training, so they can get into housing and be a plus rather than a drain on society.
So yes Strand Tramp and FMV and others, I agree the police should enforce the laws. And maybe there are ways they can force people to get on their meds without being mean about it.
But from the looks of things, you actually seem to agree that the shelter solves these problems or helps solve them, rather than creating them. So then stop bashing the shelter.
There would be MANY MORE people on the street if it weren’t for the shelter helping the good ones get straight.
You also seem to avoid the question of homeless vets, homeless elderly women, etc. Are you afraid of a 70-year-old homeless woman in a wheelchair? This is a person who can go to the shelter and get off the streets, get healthier and eventually have housing.
If they go to the hospital forever because there are no other choices, it will cost you MORE!!!!!
So stop bashing the shelter when deep inside, you know you want it.
