Pita Grill & Salmonella

Beware of raw jalapenos

“Thought you might want to pass this on to your readers. My wife just got back from Pita Grill with a container of California Hummus. I reminded her that the salmonella scare had been extended to raw jalapeno and serrano peppers.

So she called to ask if the peppers in the hummus were cooked and they said no. She asked to speak to a manager and the guy on the phone said “I’m in charge right now.”

Not sure if that meant he was a manager or not. Anyway, she asked if they knew about the warning and if they were going to pull the hummus. They said they weren’t and it was up to the customer to decide if they wanted to eat it or not. They pretty much had the same response regarding tomatoes. So by that logic it’s ok for them to put out rotten beef if the customer asks for it? Pretty scary.

You would think a store that positions itself as having health, good food would have a more proactive attitude regarding protecting their customers.”

FDA has announced that the war against the killer tomatoes is over and that people may come out of their homes and eat the docile tomatoes once again.

I doubt there’s any salmonella in the jalapeƱos. That gives the FDA too much credit.

Sadly, I have had both food poisoning and Salmonella..I’d take foo poisoning over Salmonells any day…Food Poisoning lasts a day Salmonella lasts about a week.
