Reader Mail: Meat and dairy choices

7/3/2008:

Here’s a simple Hoboken411 reader mail concerning alternative (and healthy) meat and dairy choices in Hoboken. Why not?

Why don’t any Hoboken restaurants offer this?

“We all know that eating hormone and antibiotic free meat and dairy is good for us humans. Yet I received NO response from any of the finer bar restaurants in town when inquiring if and when they will have this offering. To tell the truth I am so bored with the overpriced uncreative unhealthy food choices in town!”

Where is the nearest place to find such dishes when dining out?

For the restaurants uptown (Madison, City Bistro, Hudson Tavern and Elysians) to charge over $10 for a freaking burger is RIDICULOUS to begin with and they’re not even good! They are always over cooked hockey pucks. For that amount of $$$ I want a healthy fresh burger. I believe 10th & Willow charges $12 for a burger it’s unbelievable. 🙁
No, I don’t live in Hoboken. I live on a little island in Puget Sound near Seattle. When I’m done with my new book, I’ll be talking about “eatwild” across the country. Stay tuned. As for grass-fed meat in Hoboken? In 2009 you can look forward to a new restaurant chain called “Elevation Burger” that “cooks their fresh fries in olive oil, offers two kinds of veggie burgers and uses only 100 percent organic, grass fed, free range meat.”
How the heck did you find this thread from Seattle? Used to live there myself. As for Elevation Burger, I will look forward to it. Right now there is nothing.

Go to this link http://www.eatwild.com/products/index.html and click on the image of your state in the map of the United States. When you get to your state’s section, click on the link “Beyond the Farm” that is in the upper right hand corner. There you will see an extensive list of local providers of great meat and dairy products. In addition, you will see a comprehensive list of farmers in your state that sell directly to you or will even ship their products overnight.
Eat well!

Jo, not to get personal, but do you live in Hoboken? I think it would be great to have a lecture on the whole “eatwild” subject. And since we have you on the line….what about Hoboken? Nothing, right?
