NJ Transit Train Crash in Hoboken

NJ Transit Train Crash in Hoboken

Jeez Louise! Looks like the NJ Transit Pascack Valley train coming into Lackawanna Plaza in Hoboken was going a bit too fast (or the breaks didn’t work?)

It appears to have jumped onto the platform causing major damage.

No word yet on the extent of the situation, or the types of injuries. Hope everyone is okay. (Update – at least 3 1 perished, ~100 injured, “many” in critical condition)

One eyewitness said the train actually went “airborne” and hit the roof of the terminal causing it to collapse. Wonder if NJ Transit will release security camera footage from the platform area.

Just another one of those things about socialized transport that people need to be reminded of.

(SPECIAL NOTE – On average, more people are hurt and / or die every single day in NJ via car crashes – why do “mass events” like the train incident get more coverage?)

Highways are socialized transport as well. They don’t get built and maintained for free. They’re subsidized by your tax dollars.
