Reader Mail: Poopy Cats

6/24/2008:

From the Hoboken411 Mail Bag, we have a reader who has a nice yard, but is littered with smelliest substance ever: Cat Crap.

I’d tell him to call his councilperson for advice, but he’s wondering what all of you think he should do!

My dog loves cat droppings

“I have a quick question that you or my fellow Hoboken411 fans might have an answer to.

My building shares a huge community yard with the other buildings on our block. It’s a fantastic yard, or rather it could be a fantastic yard if it weren’t for these three massive cats that call the yard their home. I’ve been here for about 2 years now and they have been here just as long and I suspect longer.

I would love to take my kids in the yard and let my dog run around and stretch his doggie legs once in a while but the amount of cat poop back there make it less than desirable. Every time I go back there with my dog he finds a pile and rolls in it and I’m forced to bring him back up and give him a bath.

The last two times I’ve had him out there I’ve discovered ticks on him as well. I’d really really like these cats to take up residence elsewhere. I’m sure I cannot be alone in this desire. If this were NYC I’d call the ASPCA but I’m not sure who to call here in Hoboken.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

(Yes, I know this photo only has two of them)”

A woman (in the giant yard that turned into the giant dog run) was just screaming at 2 giant dogs “Bosco” and “Patrick” that were trying to eat the cats.

Anyone know whether the cats all got away?
Might Liberty Humane Society be contacted to put out traps & then put them up for adoption? Don’t know if they have space at the shelter, but perhaps worth a try?
Liberty Humane is not contracted with Hoboken which is why they cannot and do not do anything in Hoboken. Hoboken contracts with Newark for Animal control.
