Cammarano – Multiple personalities?

6/11/2008:

Flip Flopper

The city finds itself in great financial trouble as of late, and many allegations have been made by members of the City Council that the administration has been less than forthright with the city’s real numbers. Quite rightly, the Council has been unwilling to allow the city to defer expenses or to borrow its way out of its fiscal hole. Many statements have been made about a lack of trust.

Yet, at last Monday’s special council meeting at which the hospital authority presented a vague and largely useless presentation on the hospital’s need to restructure bonds and defer principal payments to cover its operating expenses, many of the council members were willing to accept the hospital’s claims that everything will be okay. Peter Cammarano, in particular, chastised some council members and members of the public for being paranoid and irrationally distrustful.

Here are some clips on the city’s budget problem taken from a Cablevision News interview last Thursday with Mr. Cammarano and intertwined them with clips from his good news speech just three days prior at the special City Council meeting discussing the status of Hoboken’s hospital.
Funny how it’s usually the female candidate that has to “soften her image” or change her “attitude” or whatever. Look at who’s running this town!!! The docile women are the biggest tools! Look at Joan Quigley, Terry LaBruno, Bubbles Rhodes-Kearns, Caridad Rodriguez, shall I continue? Give me a bitchy Beth Mason any day as long as she gets the job done!
I agree. I am sorry if that statement about Beth bothered your feminist sensibilities. My father always told me life is not fair and no where is that more evident in the sexist realm of Hoboken Politics. When it comes to fiscal responsibility Beth is the only one of those choices for Mayor that has demonstrated with her votes and actions that she is serious about better managing the City’s finances. The political reality is that she will have to reach out to some reformers as well as BNRs and City workers to show that she can lead all of Hoboken if elected. I think she can but the job of a candidate is to convince as many as possible they are the best choice. Just because she has my vote and possibly your vote is not good enough to get elected. I know she will work hard but there is already big money behind Cammarano and it’s the same group that backed Roberts in 2005. In my conversations with her I have found Beth to be a true straight shooter and if more Hoboken voters get… Read more »
As of today, here are your choices for Mayor in terms of those who have announced, not denied they are running or started campaign funding initiatives: 1) Mike Russo- Whose the Mayor if he’s elected, him or mommy dearest? 2) Peter Cammarano – What’s his position again? Yeah the one that gets him more power. 3) Steve Crappyola – Could you see Stick as his driver pulling over to change the adult diaper? 4) Mayor Roberts – the feckless incumbent who runs ways like a little boy when he can’t get his way and far exceeds his spending allowance. City Council made the mistake of giving ‘Davey Boy’ a credit card. 5) Beth Mason- A true reformer that by speaking her conciense pisses people off. She is the only one that has been right on the budget issues but needs to mend fences with some reformers and soften her image to have a shot at taking out the current Administration. 6) Puppie Raia – Like Beth has the dough to run but he has shifted alliances so much in the last two years I am not sure where he stands on anything. 7) Candidate X?? matt_72? honcho? bri777? The 19 year old kid from Oklahoma City that is an ardent gamer? At least we have choices! :)
Funny how it’s usually the female candidate that has to “soften her image” or change her “attitude” or whatever. Look at who’s running this town!!! I wouldn’t trust Shammerano as far as I could kick him. His pretensiousness and arrogance go way back to before he arrived in Hoboken looking to get in the game. Everything he says or does is carefully calculated towards his own self interest, nothing else. He had no problem taking the HCDO’S $ to support his campaign when he needed an “in” in Hoboken, but will turn around and stab anyone in the back for a better deal. A couple years ago he was handing out flyers on the corner for the Kerry campaign, now you want to elect him Mayor?

At least we have choices! 🙂
