PATH suspended through rush hour!

6/10/2008:

Couldn’t have happened on a worse day.

PATH knocked out

PATH service between 33rd Street and the Journal Square and Hoboken stations will be suspended in both directions through this evening’s rush hour due to power cable damage caused by a track fire between the Christopher and 9th Street stations. PATH stations at 33rd Street, 23rd Street, 14th Street, 9th Street and Christopher Street stations will be closed this evening. PATH will operate regular service on its Newark to World Trade Center and Hoboken to World Trade Center lines, and also will operate between Journal Square and Hoboken stations.

NJ Transit will cross-honor PATH tickets on its trains and buses at Penn Station New York and Penn Station Newark. PATH passengers also can use the New York City subway system to pick up PATH service at the World Trade Center Station.

A “glitch or two”?? You clearly don’t take the Path. EVER.

The only time I have been inconvenienced by the subway was during the strike. This is about the 5th or 6th time I’ve been inconvenienced by the Path this year.[/quote]

You must not use the subway much, I’ve lost count on how often the subway has been a problem for me.

that’s the only time? i know people coming in from Brooklyn that have their entire line shut down because of track fires and signal problems. the subway always has the same problems. they also don’t run enough trains for the amount of people that use the system and it results in overcrowding. they also recently raised fares and reduced discounts….jeez, sounds like all the same complaints people have about the path….except in my 4.5 years here, i’ve only had 2 occurrences where the PATH didn’t run at all (back in january and this one). i’ve had my fare share of mishaps on the subway.

for the record, i think both systems are pretty darn good at getting a huge quantity of people to their destination pretty much 99% of the time.
