Graffiti on the rise in Hoboken

6/12/2008:

Been meaning to post this for a while, however, the graffiti I had originally snapped pictures of had been removed a week or two later.

But I’ve been seeing more and more pop up in many areas of town. Recently, I bumped into a couple custodians over at the Wallace School, and asked: “What’s up with all the graffiti?”

Their response: “We take it down, and they put it right back up!”

Has your area been inflicted with graffiti lately?

There was a prolific tagger in DC who also thrived on his quasi-celebrity status (for which reason I will not use his moniker). He was eventually caught and sentenced to 18 months in prison, did 200 hours community service and ordered to pay $12,000 in restitution.

Not so funny meow is it!

You like seeing your name up? That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen on this board. If you are still in school, good luck getting a job after graduation. I suspect you will be stuck in some dead-end job b/c you spent a little too much time sniffing your spray paint instead of doing your homework 😉

Hoboken has never been a good place for youth, if I ever have kids I would NEVER send them to this town’s schools.

As for graffiti, it’s nothing compared to what we used to see ten years ago.

#13-Matt – I know the chalk washes away, eventually, when it rains, but in the meantime, I have to look at a bunch of chalk graffiti all over the walls. Dog poop washes away eventually too but you shouldn’t leave that on the sidewalk. I live in a complex that has an outdoor area for kids and adults and it just doesn’t cool when you bring over some friends and the walls and sidewalks of the public area look like a children’s playroom. Sorry, but I still say NO CHALK.
