Semi-Good Deal Alert: 6/12/2008

6/12/2008:

Not sure if this will turn into a regular “series” on Hoboken411, but I noticed this “semi-good” deal over at 8th Street Tavern.

With prices for everything rising pretty much everywhere, 35oz of Corona for 11 bucks isn’t so bad. (it’s equivalent to about $3.33 per 12oz. bottle)

Also, the 8th St. Tavern apparently has a new chef, and the food (I’ve heard) was pretty decent? (I did hear this from one of the bartenders though).

Has anyone tried?

I couldn’t disagree with the previous comments more. I love this place. Have lived in Hoboken for 10 years now, and it’s the one of the only places left that you can still get a beer and watch the game without dealing with all the yuppies in town. The food isn’t the greatest, but I don’t go there for dinner….although the wings are just as good, if not better, than anyplace else in town…and I know my wings!

Actually, I hope that you all continue to feel this way and stay away from this place….bad for their business I guess, but good for me! Guarantees that there will always be a stool for me to plant my ass on and watch some baseball!

i don’t know how this place stays in business because it is always empty. they must own the building. i am not high brow, but the place always reeks like my fraternity bar room from college.
I think the bar owner also owns Margherita’s Restaurant and Vito’s Deli, so he may own a couple of buildings around that corner.
The owner of Margherita’s also owns Mikie Squared but I don’t know about the other places mentioned.

I actually went this place the other day and asked about the special. Well the kitchen was closed till further notice because the ac broke. It also took the guy like 5 minutes to come over to us when there were only 5 people in the whole bar.

The guy that owns 8th Street is NOT the same as the one that owns Vito’s and Margherita’s.
8th Street is by far the worst bar in town. We were there one Wednesday night, maybe three other people in there and wanted the Yankees game put on one of the tv’s close to us, I believe there was some other game on there that no one was watching. The bartender looked at us and told us no. The service there is horrible, he sits there on his cell phone while you wait for him to grace you with his presence to take your order.
