Carmelo Garcia: Deal or Steal?

11/1/2008 Update:

Well, well – it seems as if there’s some trouble over at the ongoing saga called 711 Bloomfield Street.

Apparently the digging out of the basement has caused structural issues – and now is endangering the structural soundness of the building next door at 713 Bloom. The road is currently shut down for emergency repairs.

One reader was unsure whether Carmelo Garcia had proper permits or zoning for this modification – and mentioned that Al Arezzo was there all morning – and may issue a stop work order.

6/2/2008:

A Hoboken411 reader sent this note in about their observation this morning. What is your assessment of this situation?

What is Carmelo Garcia up to?

hoboken-carmelo-garcia-headshot.jpg“Recently elected Board of Education member Carmelo Garcia bought a huge four-story home at 711 Bloomfield St for JUST $400,000 (avg price $900,000) on April 7th from a former city employee who some say is mentally incapcitated… Deal or Steal?

This morning at 9:15 am Carmelo stops by his home I assume to check on his workers by 9:45 am his worker-guy in the dodger jersey #18 (no work permits, no trash container) loaded lumber and furniture into the street…. when i passed by at 10 am.. a cop said he was calling the city inspector but an hour later a city truck came by and carted it away… (note:blue spray painted curb? handicapped space? no signs?)

ps. isn’t it interesting that his wife’s name isn’t on the tax roll with him?”

Any chance you can upload some new photos of Carmelos house ? I just love all that debris and that Shitter in the front yard look. Gives you that warm Holiday feeling. Those poor neighbors.

FYI – Walked by Carmelo’s crumbling house this morning,
Guess what?
The city has finally issued a stop work order.
Imagine that, this type of lawless behavior comes from the same man who would vote on an illegal Board of Education Contract (HOLA) and now refuses to follow the rules of City Hall. Well, This is Hoboken,
Carmelo please run for city council !!!!
Then after your loss, – Please –
Go away.

So after the clean up, there is now a huge dumpster in front of the building. They also tried to block two parking spots in front of the dumpster AND behind. Luckily for us, we have some good people living on this street that stopped that BS. [/quote]

I smiled a little bit the morning I was walking to work and saw that overnight someone had thrown the barricades and soccer cones into the dumpster and reclaimed at least those two spaces…

This is a joke… Doesn’t seem like an simple permit should allow you to dig a hole in your foundation. And now what, a long-time bloomfield resident is out of his home due to the continued greed by this dude. Not enough to scam his way into the place (either by tricking the poor SOB that sold it to him or by pulling a fast one with the taxes).

Luckily for us, we have some good people living on this street that stopped that BS. Bottom line, we don’t know what is happening over there because Hoboken is SHADY and people in town hall will continue to do whatever they want. I wonder if Garcia’s tax bill went up as well? HA!

Re 102: “mortgage” typo–sorry. Parapraxis, since that industry’s fractured anyway….
