Lemon Aid

5/30/2008:

As you know, there was a disastrous earthquake in China which killed nearly 70,000 people (and you think you have problems?)

The Fuzzy Lemons will be performing at GoldHawk on Sunday, June 1st to raise money for the Red Cross China earthquake relief fund.

Lemon Aid: Red Cross relief benefit

“On May 12, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Sichuan province in southwestern China, killing thousands of people. The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including the Red Cross Society of China, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster.

The Fuzzy Lemons’ mission is to rock out, have fun, and be a force for good in the world. News of the devastation in China has prompted us to organize two shows to benefit the Red Cross China Earthquake Relief Fund, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Red Cross.

Please help out us by purchasing tickets for this show. Tickets are $10 per person (adults & children must have a ticket), and we’ll be playing two shows on Sunday, June 1st.

100% of profits go to the Red Cross. Our goal is to raise $1,600!”

Showtimes:

(Buy a bunch and bring your friends!)

Re 15., strand: With all due respect, if your statement about the icrc & its funding allocations is accurate (again, a substantiating reference would be helpful), I take issue with your allegation of anti-semitism, vis a vis Israel. You imply that disagreement with some Israeli governmental/human rights policies (which then impacts funding) equals anti-semitism.

Not true. I know lots of Jews—including a few in my family—who do not agree with how Israel handles itself and its neighbors. They are not anti-semitic/self-hating Jews, simply because they disagree with some of Israel’s behavior.

Off topic, but I just made another nice donation to the Hoboken Shelter. http://www.hobokenshelter.org/donors/Donor_Main.html

I must be a Republican-American or something.
