The right to defend yourself

Why should the right to defend yourself be limited? {guns, etc.?}

We all know that one of the great big ‘ole debates this decade is about “guns.” And by now, you’ve already decided how you feel about the big, bad guns, right? You’re either for them – or you agree with the progressive politicians who aim to pretty much disarm all law-abiding citizens. You know, essentially take away the right to defend yourself effectively.

The argument, discussion, discourse whatever you want to call it has gotten so muddy and so stupid – it is mind-boggling. To witness what amounts to millions of millions of people who lack common sense, simple reasoning skills and basic logical thought patterns is astounding. What has happened to the world we live in?

In the audio clip below (from Howard Stern), Howard, Gary and Robin debate about gun laws and so on.

Gary is an idiot who loves “what ifs.” What ifs are so stupid!

Producer Gary thinks there is some merit to “limit” how many guns and how many rounds a law-abiding citizen should be able to own. He (Gary) liked talking about the dreaded “what ifs.” What if a guy buys 300 guns, and subsequently forms an army intent on going on a murderous crime rampage? His fear-ridden “what ifs” are so fucking annoying, and typical of the completely fear-indoctrinated public.

Howard makes a great point – that career-criminals do not give two fucks about the law, and will arm themselves on the black market, fully care-free about the consequences of their future actions. Why the general (law-abiding) public shouldn’t at least have a chance at survival is one of the most asinine things I’ve ever heard. 95% of the living, breathing public cannot grasp such a simple concept.

Here’s some food for thought: When driving down a two-lane road (sans highway barrier) – do you realize that if someone wants to hurt you intentionally, they can just turn their car into oncoming traffic and likely kill you in a head-on collision. What are you going to do about that “what if?” Ban cars? Insist on barriers on every two-way road?

There are so many ways to kill people, and so many ways to die. However, faced with a tense, violent situation with one or more criminally-minded individuals, your absolute best chance at surviving a potentially dire (criminal) event is by owning a gun, and knowing how to use it.

The whole “debate” about gun ownership is just a circus side-show. They’ve effectively divided the American public about it – and while we “fight among ourselves,” the laws, penalties and restrictions for what is a documented constitutional right gets whittled away before your eyes. And you essentially allow it.

Besides the common street thug – who do you think the real criminal element is here? Who is “allowed” to have fully automatic weapons with armor-piercing ammunition? Why is that?

PS – Unrelated – but it just crossed my mind… Has anyone ever thought about why “the left” wants to take away so many of your so-called “rights?” Is it just because they’re called “rights” and they hate the “right” side of the aisle that much that they’ll attack anything called a “right?” Who the fuck knows…

In the gun debate there’s no shortage of arguments made out of sheer ignorance of the subject, or even deliberate dissembling.

Looks like you’re saying girls don’t know how to handle weapons.

Politics aside, do you agree with the right to defend yourself? Is possessing a firearm bad?

I think you’ve missed the point. Entirely.

In his defense, you did have to wait an awfully long time to get to the point, though the trip was full of funny. It’s one of the most awesome aspects of the AR, that the reload absorbs so much of the the energy that would otherwise go to kickback. And the stance of the wanna-bes versus the last shooter tell another chapter of the whole story.
