Parking makes people angry

May
5/21/2008:
10 minutes in the past, a report came over the Live Hoboken police and fire scanner that “someone attacked a parking meter with a sledgehammer.”
I missed the location, but it doesn’t matter, just sounds funny. Here’s what it might look like:

Do parking tickets make residents so angry that they’d be willing to risk $100’s in fines, and possible jail time?
Hoboken, parking, parking meter, vandalism

hmm. that sounds a lot more reasonable than the $35 each estimate before. i wonder if i should just double park by the apartment i’m moving out of - willow is a very wide street - but buy 3 for the apartment i’m moving into - garden is not as wide as willow so a double parked truck would be more in the way of cars driving by…

I wouldn’t double park a U-haul on any street. They are too wide. Larger vehicles (buses, trucks etc..) would either have a difficult time squeezing past, or not being able to go by at all. Just common courtesy.

Lots of buses go down Willow. You would have to move that Uhaul every 15 minutes if you double parked there.

also haw are you going to get the furniture out to the u-hall, squeeze between the parked cars?
buck up and get signs at both spots.

I don’t know how big your Uhaul is, but I had a 14 footer and I got 2 signs adjacent to a fire hydrant, so it was more than enough room.

This is plain and simple Police negligence of their duties as the civil service law enforcement employees of our community. You need to get the officers names time of arrival. Then document any action taken by the officers. Witness accounts are very helpful in such matters. If you’re unsatisfied with the out come it is your responsibility to sit down and write letters to City officials and State officials expressing your disappointment with the service you received from the person or persons in which you employ as a tax payer.
Sad but true Police officers are people just like us and there are great ones and slackers. If there is an easy way out of doing their job the slacker will take it. It’s only when superiors get involved does the slacker make an effort. The only reason they circled back around was to cover their asses. Had violence broke out and it was found out that they did nothing to resolve this matter when they arrived they would have had trouble
who’s the dickhead property owner that wouldn’t call for the tow off of his/her private property? what authority do the police have?
picture this….i own a house with a driveway and have my cars parked in a garage. someone parks in my driveway in front of my garage blocking me in….what do i do? call the police or call a tow truck?
calling the police might get the person a trespassing ticket, but they sure as hell aren’t paying for the tow. you would have the car towed yourself, and the towing company should agree to making the person pay before they pick it up, which would reimburse what you paid.

Wow. You people are a hell of a lot kinder than I would be.
It’s a foregone conclusion that anyone who would park their car blocking people in, and then walking away for extended periods is a complete and utter disrespectful piece of shit.
They’re not around to take care of their car, wouldn’t it be a shame if…whoops! Look at that! I tripped and left a big scratch mark on their passenger side door! Too bad, so sad, better call Maacco.
