1) 85 clams is kind of steep. 50 and I’d be there. I guess it’s the wine that’s driving the cost.
2) Why is “Mango’s” capitalized and hyphenated?

Fondue, then salad, more fondue and then Banana’s Foster?
How many bathrooms do they have in this place?

Those are $15 bottles of wines - don’t think it’s driving the price.

Is it all the wine you can drink? Or just one glass per course, because that’s not even close to enough wine for some people! (ME!)

kooky kat,
Why don’t you call them and ask?

All you can drink wine? Ugh…nothing worse than a wine hangover. I guess it’s a fair price then, as long as the portions are adequate. I’ve had meals that cost way more.
Sadly, I don’t think I want to add $170+tax and gratuities to the already obscene amount of money I’ll spend this weekend on gas, food, and booze.

Wine is just about the only thing that can still give me a hangover these days
9. jscirish27 | May 20th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Typically it is one wine per course at these type of events.

i ate at porto leggero in jersey city last weekend, its located in the harborside area, really no need to go to ny for top notch italian food

Bottle or glass? lol
And if I really wanted to know, I would call.
Now, does anyone know if they have cheese at this place?

this is a very good place, its owned by the same people that own scalini fideli, its expensive but very nice for a special occasion, plus you can stay on this side of the river

this is an excellent place. i used to work at plaza 5 in jc and it was perfect for a glass of wine after work or treating clients to a great meal. the owner is fantastic and truly cares about his customers. love, love, love this place!!!

I wonder if Michael’s wife is the pastry chef here, as she was years ago at Il Mondo and later at the original Scalini Fidleli. Their desserts were so good I asked him if she would make our wedding cake, alas she declined.

I work in JC and Porto Leggero’s food is awesome. I have lunch there at least once a week.

i think that porto leggero is not as well positioned as scaleni or il mundo. it is too expensive.
18. MF | May 21st, 2008 at 11:03 am
…given the quality of course. in other words, it’s good quality food for the price of great food. i wish that weren’t so because it would be a wonderful option in the JC/Hoboken area; disappointing.
