Clearing snow is not rocket science

Elbow grease nowhere to be found at Hoboken City Hall

Proof positive that Hoboken City Hall is inept and lazy. Hoboken Parking Dude demonstrated how to simply correct a shoddy condition:

“We paid our best street team last night to clear the North side of 9th Street between Garden and Bloomfield. 100% paid for by hobokenparkingdude to give the residents 10 more parking spots.

The city considers this area as a snow plow zone and tows away any car parked but doesn’t feel it necessary to make those spots available when the storm ends, however we do!!!! Now cars are parking there.”

Parking Dude Cleans streets when Hoboken does not

Why exactly can’t the city do this?

Two syllables: MONEY.

The city employs HUNDREDS of people. Part of EVERYONE’S JOB DESCRIPTION should include: “The possibility that you will be asked to temporarily suspend your desk duties, or other normal job functions in order to assist in emergency situations, such as flooding, snow removal and other circumstances that require extra man-power. If you are unable to assist for some reason, that may lead to job dismissal.”

Instead – HPU employees are driving around in heated minivans ROBBING RESIDENTS!

How fucked up is that?

Way to go, Hoboken Parking Dude!

Hoboken HPU robs residents instead of clearing streets

I like the idea of requiring city employees to pitch in when necessary. Filling OPRA requests can wait.

I came home from work travel midweek – days after the snow had stopped and I couldn’t believe once again how poorly the snow removal had been executed. How hard is it? We have all these rules on parking, we have, seemingly, as many city employees as we have residents, but yet…nothing done.

I hate to be this kind of person, but I don’t give a you know what about bike share, and all the jazz, when you cannot do the simple things we really need correctly.

What are they proving by shoveling one short block in Hoboken? There are hundreds if not thousands more.

Excuses are what you tax dollars pay for. Jersey City did a tremendous job. Stellar in fact!

Must be embarrassing for the city to see how enterprising individuals can one-up them. All it takes is a little effort, and some actual caring about the city to make things better. Shame.
