O’Bagel Hoboken now open
Carb places don’t set an alarm off for us – but still worthy to know that O’Bagel had opened up yesterday at 6th & Washington.
Now you can soak up those carby beer suds with some carby bagels!
Interesting to see how the bagel competition fares out over the course of this year – and how “loyal” existing customers will be.

Our original location at 1168 Valley Rd in Stirling, NJ was our home away from home. On many nights Sam could be seen rolling bagels late into the evening and then baking behind the oven before sunrise. Janette, Sam’s sister and business partner, maintains that same tradition of exemplary service for our neighbors, friends, and customers at the Stirling location. With two additional locations added in 2003 at Riverwalk and Dewy Meadow, our O’Bagel family has grown along with our loyal fan base. Sam’s wife enjoys the Dewy Meadow location and works closely with the community. The next generation has also been involved with carrying the family tradition and can been seen working side by side with their parents. Sam remains a constant Bagel Master at all locations. The Hoboken location will be run by their son Stephen El-Hassan, who signed the lease for this location back in the spring of 2015.
How will O’Bagel affect the bagel chemistry in Hoboken?
For one, Hoboken certainly does NOT have an overload of bagel places. In fact, we’re a bit short, considering the bagel place on 14th St. closed a few years ago.
I wonder if those existing locations will see declining sales for people (especially those who come from the south). There were long lines on New Year’s Day – so I suspect those guys might be a bit nervous. Even more so if O’Bagel turns out to be a hit.
If the prices for their other locations are the same – It will cost $0.95 per bagel ($1.60 with butter, $1.95 with cream cheese) – which sounds fair. Who knows, maybe Hoboken rents might affect those prices. We’ll see as they get closer to opening.
They have many items on their menu besides bagels. Sandwiches, salads, wraps, panini’s and more. Plus a whole variety of breakfast options (eggs, hash browns, bacon you name it). You can also have O’Bagel cater your event as well.
