Fuggedaboutit: Sil gets a ticket

5/5/2008:

steve-van-zandt-hoboken.jpgHere’s some proof that the Hoboken Police Department doesn’t give preferential treatment to celebrities (not all of them at least).

Hoboken411 reader “Gooch” took these pictures yesterday after the Arts & Music Festival. Steve Van Zandt (who played Silvio on The Sopranos) gets issued a summons from a HPD officer!

Will he pay his ticket, or show up in court to fight it?
I’m afraid your dead wrong Hobboy35. I work for the festival, and NO vendor gets to park his or her car on Washington St…NONE. Some of the food people get to park around the corner from their spot on the numbered streets (pre-arranged), but ALL the other craftspeople, non-profits, sponsors etc, park on F Sintra Drive, a Stevens Tech lot, in the No Fork Bank lot, the garages on Hudson St, and around the city as they like, being issued a pass for the day, which must be displayed on their dashboard. This was selective, or non selective enforcement…hmmmmmm…maybe Hob MC club has some of our poicemen as members? And maybe thats why they, and other motorcyclists are allowed to ride with open pipes around the city all hours of the day and night without getting a summons. Open pipes are against the law in NJ. In NYC they will stop you and check you with a decibel meter…maybe we should look into that over here in Hoboken.
your practically crying – go grab some tissues.

LITTLE STEVEN WAS AT A PRIVATE PARTY AND NOT AT THE STREET FAIR, I WAS AT MAXWELLS BEFORE AND AFTER THE TICKET.ACTUALLY TOOK PICTURES WITH PEOPLE IN MAXWELLS WHICH HAPPENED TO BE EMPTY AT THE TIME. COOL GUY TO BAD THE COP COULDN’T GIVE HIM A BREAK, EGOTISTCAL PR##K !
ALSO THE CITY OF HOBOKEN SHOULD REALLY BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES WITH ONLY HALF DOZEN PORTA JOHNS ON HAND FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE, THE POOR LADY’S IN THE CROWD YOUNG AND OLD SUBJECTED TO THOSE CONDITIONS, THIS HAPPENS YEAR AFTER YEAR NO CHANGE THE PEOPLE OF AUTHORITY HAVE NO NEED TO USE THE JOHNS SO THEY DON’T CARE FOR THE PUBLIC LOCALS AND VISITORS ALIKE. EVERY YEAR SEEMS TO GET BIGGER AND EVERY YEAR THERE IS ONLY SIX PORTA JOHNS ,ACTUALLY THIS YEAR I ONLY SEEN 4 SO WHAT GIVES YOU, THE ONE TICKET FROM LITTLE STEVEN COULD OF PAYED FOR TWO PORTA JOHNS FOR THE DAY.NEXT TIME I’LL PISS IN THE STREET SINCE YOU TREAT YOUR VISITORS LIKE DOGS WILL URINATE LIKE THEM!
Steven Van Zandt and other “stars”, politicians, off and on duty City employees, and cops are NOT above the law regarding parking in Hoboken, even though they feel they are. And that includes the many, many motorcycles from The Hoboken MC Club that were parked behind the 7th St stage at the Festival yesterday. It seems that the Hoboken MC Club got away with parking behind there, while others had to scramble for parking and or use public transportation …maybe I can get one of those “passes” at the Fall Festival?! I’ll be sure to photograph that situation behind the stage in the Fall and post it here. I applaud the policeman that wrote Stevie’s tic…if only he went uptown to 7th St.
Before you go making a fool of yourself, check out the facts. I think the MCs had a stand at the festival and parked where other festival-related vehicles were parked as well. They weren’t the only ones behind the stage.

But this did give me an idea 411: The Hoboken MCs have a long Hoboken history. Why don’t you do a piece on them? Just walk in their club and introduce yourself.
