Alba Boutique to open up high-end store in Hoboken, NJ
We’ve opined in the past that the stretch on Washington between 7th & 8th has not been kind to retail shopping. Especially expensive stuff.
Holy crap, I thought maybe if this place (which has another location in Ridgewood, NJ) sold affordable things, perhaps it might work. But thin sweaters for between $200 – $300?
Luxury services like champagne, and personal styling don’t really fit in Hoboken.
If Poor Cat dwindled even with stupid Justin Bieber endorsements – how the hell does Alba Boutique expect to squeeze enough pennies from Hoboken?
I mean a successful business is always welcome over yet another “for rent” sign, and I hope these guys find a market with their “Instagram” customers – but the Hoboken odds-makers have set the bar rather high with 100 to 1 they last longer than a year.
Who knows, maybe they’re industry insiders and get 1000% margins on their clothes and only need to sell one sweater a day to stay alive. But they’re trying their luck nonetheless, and we’ll see how it turns out.
