Hudson County Art: Candy Le Sueur
Candy Le Sueur: Where Dreams Land
If you’re interested in going outside the border of the mile square city – there’s a nice little art exhibit opening over in neighboring Jersey City this weekend.
“Originally from South Africa, Candy has a Fine Arts degree from the University of Johannesburg, worked in advertising before becoming an artist. Her paintings captured land, sea and sky in an expressive way. She worked with numerous charities, including the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund and the Red Cross to raise funds through art.
When moving to New York in 2004 she enrolled at the National Academy School to study abstract painting and mixed media, focussing on encaustic painting.
Recently, she studied the art of printmaking which is a natural addition to her work given the painterly way the meduim is applied when making monotypes.
Candy exhibited at the New York Affordable Art Fair in 2012, 2013 and 2015; Art Hamptons in 2014, with the Alex Adam Gallery and has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in South Africa, Switzerland, Germany and the United States.
Known for her large scale abstracted landscapes and her intimate monotypes on paper, Candy’s work is represented in private collections in the United States, South Africa, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and France.”
