2015 Hoboken Italian Festival
The 89th Annual Hoboken Italian Festival on the waterfront begins this Thursday, September 10th.
Besides daily acts, street vendors and a beer garden – noteworthy events each year are the statue procession (see route map here) on Saturday the 12th, as well as the spectacular fireworks show later that night (weather permitting).
89th Annual Hoboken Italian Feast at Frank Sinatra Park
The 89th Annual Hoboken Italian Festival returns to Sinatra Park along the Hoboken waterfront, Thursday, September 10th through Sunday, September 13th. This landmark event is open daily on September 10th and 11th from 5 to 11pm, and from noon to 11pm on September 12th and 13th. Admission is free, with over 50,000 people expected over the course of four days.
As the patron saint of sailors, the Madonna dei Martiri has had special meaning to the Italian coastal town of Molfetta for hundreds of years. The Hoboken Italian Festival recreates the traditional Molfettese feast in honor of the Madonna’s history. Speaking on the event, organizer Greg Gallo says, “We are excited and honored to provide a space where Italian-Americans can reconnect with their roots, and people from other cultures can get a taste and appreciation for all that Italy has to offer.”
The Hoboken Italian Festival includes activities for all interests and ages. Event schedule as follows:
- Thursday, September 10th – Rock Kandy – Salute to 80s Rock with a Special Salute to Jon Bon Jovi. Plus “Italian Sound” featuring Enrico de Trizio on keyboard, Giancarlo de Trizio as drummer, Patty Lomuscio with vocals.
- Friday, September 11th – Freestyle Friday featuring TKA, Coro, Rockel, and more!
- Saturday, September 12th – Feast Day! Italian Cultural Groups, Tenors, and Feature Act: MGM with the Guarnera Brothers. FIREWORKS AT 9PM.
- Sunday, September 13th – Garden State Jazz Orchestra, Blame It On The Girl, The Surftunes – A Nationally Touring Salute to the Beach Boys, and “My Kind Of Town” Best of the Best Sinatra Tribute Contest with Special Guest Judges.
Mass celebrating the Feast of Madonna dei Martiri will be celebrated at St. Francis Church in Hoboken on Saturday, September 12th, at 11am. A major fireworks show will take place along the waterfront of the Hudson River to close out Saturday’s festivities.
