Opening in the last month or so is a new fitness option in Hoboken called The Bar Method.
Located at Newark & River Streets (86 River St., 2nd flood), The Bar Method is a specialized group training facility owned and operated by Hoboken residents Lucia Almeida and Melissa Opsahl.
One of many different kinds of workout disciplines available in Hoboken, what exactly is The Bar Method anyway?
“The Bar Method is a one-hour, non-impact total body workout. It starts with a warm-up, free-weight exercises and push-ups and then moves on to intense, isometric leg work at the bar, followed by abdominal work at the bar and on mats. Every exercise includes active stretching to elongate the targeted muscles.”
Classes cost $27 each, $220 for 10, or $245 for a monthly unlimited package. They’re offering a $99/month new client promotion at the moment.
The studio was quite nice, and convenient to those who use mass transit downtown in Hoboken. From what we gathered from the owners/instructors – is that The Bar Method workout is quite regimented and extremely specific. No slacking off in these classes, that’s for sure.
