In the burbs it seems nobody stops for pedestrians. Over the weekend I watched a pedestrian cross with the light and as this pedestrian neared the middle of the street three cars all making left hand turns zoomed by the pedestrian as if they were not even there in the middle of the road. Pedestrians in the burbs also seem to actually pay attention and think twice before they step off the curb.

I almost got hit by a car this weekend while crossing Second and Clinton. The car was 1/2 way down the block and I didn’t realize it was barreling 50 mph down Clinton. My friend on my cell phone was wondering why I suddenly stopped talking in mid-sentence. I was running out of the way, and of course the driver and passenger look at you like you’re an idiot for making them slow down. 👿

People are so ridiculously stupid and inconsiderate, all anyone ever thinks about is me me me me me! If people would follow the rules of traffic, stop and look before they cross the street, this kind of thing wouldn’t happen. I am a walker, I do not drive at all, I come to a complete stop at every corner to make SURE that there are no cars coming and if there are cars coming, they are as aware of me as I am of them and they are actually going to stop if they are supposed to. (I will say it’s 50/50 on that, or maybe make that 40/60 – the 40 being the ones aware of me because they are ones who aren’t busy texing or yakking on their cell phones!)

Wake up people, pull your heads out! There are 3 year olds that know how to cross the street better than 90% of the adults in this town! 👿

[quote comment=”77990″]Yesterday I saw three pedestrians cut off moving vehicles by walking in front of them. One young lady even turned and laughed to her friend as the cars honked at her.

Yesterday I turned on to Adams and a high school girl (definitely voting tomorrow) walked out from behind an SUV directly in front of my car without looking and not in the cross walk. I stopped and almost got rear ended from behind. I motioned for her to go she stopped stepped back motioned for me to go I waived started and she walked in front of the car again. Ugh..good thing I drive very slowly in town if it was a cab that turned that corner we would be reading the headline high schooler struck by cabbie.

I also saw an irate cabbie threatening to beat up a “faggot”. He actually got out of his Indian cab, something he probably doesn’t even do for lunch, and pursue the man down the street. Too bad the guy didn’t knock him out. Cabbies are tough.
