Largest free-flying American Flag in Hoboken
Did you get a chance to see the largest free-flying American flag yesterday? A whopping five stories tall!
They flew it up at Stevens Institute.
Apparently there were some technical issues this year, as they were having trouble keeping the balloon vertical, after having a difficult time even getting it off the ground.
Perhaps if Chris Christie (or any other politician) gave a “town hall speech” here that would have been more than enough hot air to get it flying.
See some “fun facts” about this contraption below.
The American Flag balloon:
- can carry 3 passengers in addition to the pilot
- is 53 feet tall … that’s the same height as a 5 story building
- can hold 700,000 3-foot by 5-foot American flags
- requires 30 MILLION BTUs of propane to be fully inflated!
In case you missed it – you can see it again at the 33rd annual QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning, the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America, to be held July 24-25-26, 2015 at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ
