Stop sign, or traffic light at 9th & Willow?

The intersection at 9th & Willow recently had a traffic-pattern change: “All-way” stop signs.

Southbound Willow used to be the only direction with a stop sign, with eastbound 9th Street “free to go.” With Willow Avenue being one of the busier stretches of road in Hoboken, this intersection was considered a bit treacherous overall.

This is one of the smarter things the city has done recently, and it should have no negative traffic impact. (The stop sign at 15th & Bloomfield is another story, though…)

But because today’s drivers are more or less complete apprehensive idiots – maybe it would have been better to have a traffic light here instead? The stop, go, stop, go, hesitate, look, creep of an all-way stop sign is downright annoying.

If willow Avenue is as dangerous as you say, then why not make all intersections not having traffic lights all way stops? Why not go for the whole enchilada and completely tie up the town with traffic?
