The Honorable William Wall
Floating Bar: The Honorable William Wall
Have you checked out the “Honorable William Wall” floating bar that launches out of Jersey City yet?
What is “Willy Wall?”
The Honorable William Wall (also known as “Willy Wall”) is the floating clubhouse of Manhattan Yacht Club. It is a 90 ft steel barge with an open-air upper deck. This Clubhouse is anchored in New York harbor just north of Ellis Island. This is the best view in the harbor for watching the sailboat races.
Manhattan Yacht Club opened the upper deck its clubhouse to the public beginning in 2012 (the downstairs Champagne Bar is still private to Members only).
You can buy a launch ticket and ride out the clubhouse.
The Clubhouse is an amazing experience and provides some of the best views in all the city.
Starting in 2015, the launch for the Honorable William Wall will depart from the Liberty Harbor Marina.
When you arrive at Liberty Harbor Marina, look for the Surf City Restaurant. The launch will depart from the floating dock in front of this restaurant.
Best bet is to take the Light Rail (just steps away), but it’s also only an 8-minute walk from the Grove Street PATH station.
The boat goes out Monday through Friday at 5:30pm and arrives back at 9:45pm. So you’re “stuck” for a little over four hours. There are two launches on weekends. 1pm and 4pm.
