8/4/2008 Update:
As can be expected with anything related to the Monroe Center + Hoboken, the eventual addition of Mario Michèle Studio is dragging along. They were supposed to be open three months ago. I sent an email to the owners, and have yet to receive a response as to what the holdup is.

Ha-ha!
Amen. And thank you. We had a quiet, humble ceremony, too. Listen, when you’re with someone special, you don’t need the charade! Even if I had millions, I just wouldn’t waste funds like that– better off helping someone else with it.
Elaine, I’ve worked beside chicks who yakked and yakked about their weddings WAY before their boyfriends were even aware of it!

This is about as dramatic as As The World Turns, and about as exciting, too.
I’m sure I’m not the only person married 20+ years who says that the wedding day was in the top 100 important days but not the top 10 of my life. Then again, we spent our family money on a condo downpayment and we had a quick quiet wedding and a family dinner. We haven’t looked at our wedding pictures in at least 15 years.
Sensitivity, huh? I had to listen to this chick who got married end of June blab blab blab at the gym about her wedding and her horrible family mistreating her for all of May and June. She would not STFU. Meanwhile, there was at least one woman there going through a divorce, and most all of us having lived our lives past Pageant Day listening to this ad nauseam.

mooshu i think you are assuming a lot here. in reading the posts i didnt really get the feeling that these women all had hugely extravagant weddings. maybe they did, who cares. that being said, no matter what type of wedding you prefer, or what you personally had/what you think is best, is not necessarily preferred by others. who cares how much they spent on pictures/videos, etc. the issue is that they spent the money for a certain product and are extremely annoyed when that product wasnt delivered. they are using 411 as a forum for discussion, and seems like this has helped them get the ball rolling, knowing that other people are in the same boat. who are you to judge their weddings.
hope all you brides get your money back or whatever you are trying to get. seems like a nightmare.

Discussion? Sounds more like whining to me. But, sigh, OK.
Good luck to all getting their $6,000+ photo packages and junk.

Forgot to add that a lack of photos isn’t a nightmare. A nightmare is global hunger and, you know, stuff like that.

This is not about of little girls crying over spilt milk. I have found out alot about this studio . They have been taking on contracts knowing full well they can not fullfill them. The owner Lucy, can not find photographers who are will to shoot for her because she does not pay them. I heard that one bride did not have her photographer show up. To some of us these pictures are important, and that is our business. A company failing to meet its legal contract time and time again is everyone’s business. I have seen the cars they drive(not cheap that for sure) yet they can not produce the packages they promised. It is called fraud and at best stealing!! And yes I am doing something already.
Please brides continue to post what you know. The BBB is watching them and this venue could help us get what we deserve or at most protect others.

Appreciated, masterofkarate. However, I’m going to put one last thing into perspective:
Mario Michele Studio, aka Photography by Mario Michele, has both a rating of D+ and F on the Better Business Bureau website:
bbb.org/new-jersey/business-reviews...io-michele-in-ridgewood-nj-29003090
Within the past 36 months, it has received several complaints, one of which was resolved…
Buyer beware. Before investing $6,000 or more in a photo package, or anything else for that matter, one might want to conduct research on a company, first.
I wish I could feel more sympathy for these gals. But even before we purchased a flat-screen, we did our research.

Well I’m not a gal…nor am I from Hoboken…I actually just googled mario and michele so I could call them up for my wife…and complain as well. We got married in May 2007 and received our photo album which looked great but still haven’t received the two parent albums or the video yet. It’s pretty frustrating. I personally don’t even care about the quality of the pictures so much as the fact that its been over 2 years and they dont call back. If you all DID do something about this yet could you give me a heads up…6000 is a lot of money. Be it junk or whatever you wanna call it, Im in line with masterofkarate

thats a good point and one that I completely agree with. however, I believe a few posts ago you said “I’d be more sensitive if I were a fan of obnoxious weddings, but i’m not.” Completely different than the point you just made about a lack of research being done. some of these women have had trouble dealing with this studio for two years–maybe they were the ones that submitted the complaints.
its not really a big deal, yea maybe they should have done more research (maybe they did and the reviews for the studio were not that bad at that time–who knows!). my initial point was to stop critcizing these people for having extravagant weddings. who cares. i hope they get their money back. maybe wedding purchases are not that important to u but if you spent 6000 on your flat screen, regardless of how much research you did and something went wrong, youd prob be pretty pissed about that loss of money/product/whatever.

I like you. But let’s be real: when was the last time a couple invested $6,000-9,000 on a photographer for a wedding in an alley?
As for our flat-screen, we spent $700 on a great 40-incher. But we did our research. And if it got stolen, we wouldn’t break down into a fit of tears. Most folks cry over investments they make with money they do not have and/or losses they wouldn’t have experienced if they’d been cautious…
Good luck to these folks in achieving refunds. I hope that the legal process doesn’t cost them more than the photo packages. But the more I learn about this place, the more I come to know that they should have dipped their feet into the water before diving in. The Ridgewood, NJ location, home to the first Mario Michele, received numerous complaints:
bbb.org/new-jersey/business-reviews...io-michele-in-ridgewood-nj-29003090
That being the case, why invest time, money, emotions and energy into the 2nd (Hoboken) location? Maybe blind faith in word-of-mouth. Maybe laziness.
Eh.
I’s done.

thanks…look i agree with u on everything. the only thing i had a problem with was you calling their wedding obnoxious. its a matter of opinion and if thats how u feel, so be it. i dont know how much anything costs for weddings so im not at liberty to really discuss the pricing of pictures, etc. obviously it was important to them and obnoxious was your word of choice for how they spent their wedding budget. obnoxious to one, dream wedding to another, to each his own.

Thank you Masterofkarate, I think that you hit it right on the head. It is not about how much or what the money was spent on. It is about honoring a legal contract and agreement. Something this studio has failed to do time and time again.

Has any one gotten a call back from these people? Any head way? My lawyer has made some.

This was just posted on compliants board. They are still getting away with stealing!!
My now husband and I booked Mario Michele for our wedding one year in advance. In that time, we made many payments and were contacted regularly to do so. Like they were starved for money! When it came time to make the final payment, I got nervous. They had just decided to move from Ridgewood to Hoboken in what seemed to be overnight, and we had recently seen what happened with Celebrations and thought it might not be a good idea to pay in full BEFORE we received services. It just seemed sketchy. But, I had signed a contract and was obligated to do so. So, we did, and were very nervous about it. We gave a certified check for the balance and went on. The morning of the wedding the photographer showed up very late, she spent little time with me and the girls, and rushed to the church to see the guys. I have no pre wedding photos of my bridal party (except a few getting their makeup done) – but TONS of my shoes, veil, dress and ring. The “assistant” was no less than incredibly annoying. He rushed and rushed us.. We were always on the move. Some pictures were nice, but most were shot at odd angles and weird closeness. Overall we were very disappointed. They rushed us through our wedding day so they could leave!! We were halfway through the reception and realized we had been taking so many (stupid) pictures, that we hadn’t spoken with our FAMILIES yet!
I have called and emailed numerous times about getting in to finalize our order (portraits & album)and have yet to be contacted back. We got married in early 2008!
BRIDES BEWARE! They will promise you the sun, moon and stars and you’ll believe them!! Its a fraud! BEWARE!

posted yet only a few days ago!!! More clients having the same problem! Any one out there please take action and file with the BBB and with your attorney. And Mooshu please shut up! You are not out the money you have no right being such a synical old hag!!!
This is posted on complaints.com
We have the same experience. We hired them for our wedding in summer of 2008 and we still do not have the finished products. Lucy and Sonia are both unethical, unprofessional and frauds. They have a F rating from the BBB and have many complaints online. They never return emails or calls. It takes them at least three emails before they reply back. At first they are very responsive and call when the deposits are due; however once all deposits are paid they put their clients on the back burner. It took over 6 months to get the RAW pictures and footage and once we did receive it discs were broken or the fiels would not open. Bottom line they have failed to deliver on the written and verbal contract and lack client service. If you would like to discuss, please leave your email address and I can contact you.

We used Mario Michele for my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah May 2008 and I’m still waiting. Lucy and Sonia do not return phone calls. New Jersey Department of Consumer Affairs has told me to sue them!!! Elaine
