Having Power problems?

3/24/2008:

The area may be having some strange power issues, as many calls came in about electrical surges and lights flickering in the downtown area. Reports also came into Jersey City/Newport area as well.

Maybe the over-development is now starting to stress the grid even on normal days?

My building was out from about 11 p.m. Monday until 5:50-something a.m. Tuesday.
Same with the yarhzeit and shiva candles. On the anniversary of someone’s death you burn the yahrzeit candle till it is gone. When someone dies you sit shiva for 7 days during which time the candle burns constantly.
that’s a good point, never thought of those. 🙂
My trick to making a candle last a long time is to store them in the freezer.

I know of 4 types of Jewish candles.
Yahrzeit – comes in a glass and should burn for 24 hours.
Shiva – comes in tall glass and should burn for seven days (much like the colored Saint candles)
Sabbath – candles look very much like the emergency and in my use seem to have the same burn rate.
Hanukkah – there is so much variety in length, diameter, color and other factors that I would not hazard a guess on burn time.

I’m a pagan that once lived in a Jewish household so between their use of candles and mine use of candles…
yeah, good points. i like the emergency candles because they are designed so that you can leave them burning, not that i would though, fairly safely without worrying about fires because they burn evenly. other candles are a bit riskier. regardless, the ones i get are pretty darn cheap so it’s all good for me.

The only power problem I’m experiencing is control of the remote.
