At the present time, it looks like the weather gods may be forgiving and will spare us a completely rainy day tomorrow: “A morning shower; otherwise, warmer with clouds giving way to some sun.”

5/2/2008 Bump:

No way you’d forget that this Sunday is the Arts & Music Festival, right?

Weather forecasters are saying there’s a chance for some intermittent showers during this “rain or shine” event.

Do you think that’ll affect outcome? Is that good or bad?

Here’s a preview of this years SPRING Hoboken Arts & Music Festival on May 4, 2008 from 11am to 6pm. Big star this time is Micky Dolenz of The Monkees!

Special section with Fine Artists located between 2nd & 3rd Street, so if you are an Art collector, this is the place to be. Oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, sculpture & much more

Lots of great International Food vendors throughout the Fair.

Children’s area is located on 3rd street with rides, games, creative activities, ponies, petting zoo, magic show, face painting, clowns, balloons, live performances (schedule tba) and much much more!

Crafters display / sell handmade: pottery, metalwork, wood items, furniture, blown & fused glass, quilts, household items made from recycled materials, cementware, batik clothing, hand painted furniture, candles, jewelry, dried florals, soaps & lotions and much more.

Hoboken restaurants will set up street cafes offering an eclectic variety of international foods such as: Thai, Indian, Greek, French, Mexican, Cajun and Italian.

I did offer a positive idea. Get out of Hoboken for a day. NYC has this same “art” festival every weekend in a different neighborhood, all summer. It’s corny.

As for Parade Day, I like the concept of of a good beer festival, but between the musclehead drunks acting like assholes and the musclehead cops punishing everyone for the actions of the musclehead drunks, this one misses the mark.

If the person in charge of booking for this thing reads this… will you book us for one of these already! The name is Bill Owens Five! We live in town. We rent studio space in town. We’ve been playing in town at Maxwells, Whiskey Bar, Goldhawk for years. We like to see the sky sometimes when we play. How bout some love?!

I don’t know if Hoboken is ready for rock music yet?

Booking a band that’s actually FROM Hoboken counts as a pretty solid idea in my book.

I’ve seen the Bill Owens Five live several times in Hoboken….. they’re a very solid band. They do some covers, but I’m a big fan of their originals. They would definitely be a good addition the festival lineup.

Hank Williams III now that would be an incredible show! Saw him at the Highline Ballroom last year, but I don’t think Hoboken is ready for him yet, he’d make St Patty’s day parade look like a church revival!
