Thanks for the advice… I’m getting ready to move and will not call these guys. Anyone ever dealt with “three guys and a truck” or something like that? One of my friends said they were pretty good…

I’ve used Catlow Movers from JC (201-653-1808)3 times now. They are always fast and on time. Originally recommended to me by the people who manage the Vanguard building when I was moving in there. The often estimated 4 hours, and ended up having at least 1 hour to spare. Mostly because I know how to pack up and apartment. Tips for an easy move: Get a tape gun, or two if you’re a couple, and plenty of extra rolls of tape, buy lots of boxes. Staples has them, and they are reasonably priced, Uhaul or any “moving” business is a ripoff. Better to have a few left over than not enough. Big heavy duty trashbags are perfect for pillows, blankets, clothes, towels. Who cares how many you have, they’re easy to move. Make sure you pack EVERYTHING. Throw out anything you don’t absolutely need from your fridge and cabinets. Chances are that mustard can stand to be replaced, and no one has touched those pickles in 6 months. Anything you know you will need, like bathroom items or clothes, put them all in a bag or box but leave it open until moving day. Use Plastic cups, paper plates and order takeout until you move. Stack it up neatly and as close to your door as you can, and they will be in and out in no time. I would always end up have a bunch of stuff left out whenever I moved, but keeping a few boxes open with… Read more »

WHITE GLOVE MOVERS is the worst moving company, possibly in the United States, whose customer service is an absolute joke. After agreeing and taking a deposit to move my friends from one spot in hoboken to another spot in hoboken a short distance away on September 30th, and promising an estimate of $1,200, the company showed up 5 hours late on moving day, and had the nerve to try and say they had to re-estimate the price for $2,500, which is completely unreasonable. After my friends said they would not pay this amount because this was not what was agreed upon, the movers just picked up and left. Because of this unprofessionalism, this left my friends (3 girls) to move extremely heavy items on their own, along with one of their father’s who is 60 years old. The deposit money still has not been returned to my friends. This company should be blacklisted from doing anymore moves in Hoboken, and you would be crazy to pay for their services.

WHITE GLOVE MOVERS came to our apartment 5hrs late on moving day and more than doubled our original estimate. They said everything had to be packed in a closed box but we were never told that at the house visit when we received the estimate. The foreman also said whoever gave us the estimate(his boss I believe) greatly underestimated the cost of the job. We fell victim to their incompetence and WHITE GLOVE left the premises after 15 minutes, leaving us out flat to try. We moved ourselves under 4.5hrs when WHITE GLOVE estimated 8hrs with the same “work force”. They must be called white glove because they do not actually want to get their hands dirty and do their jobs. PLease do not use this moving company…and if you must remember it is at your own risk….
