Morrissey’s Moving Company recently moved my roommate and I from Hoboken, NJ to our new duplex in Astoria, Queens. Ralph Morrissey, the owner, came to our Hoboken apartment to give a fair and reasonable evaluation of the cost. He was very professional with years in the business so we ultimately chose to use his moving company over a ton of other options in the NJ/NY area. In the weeks leading up to our move, I was in constant contact with the company’s office manager Helen who was super responsive, thorough, and friendly whenever I would call or email. I can’t explain how much I appreciated how prompt her responses were to all my questions. She and Ralph eased my nerves about the whole move by taking the time to tell me about other moving jobs they’ve done in the area. On the day of the move, the moving truck came at the crack of dawn as requested so that we could get through Manhattan early in the morning before traffic started to pile up. The movers’ level of professionalism and care for all our stuff was impeccable. They took the time to ask us which boxes the truck was moving and what furniture needed to be wrapped. Once given this instruction, they went straight to work and were all business within the hour and 15 minutes it took them to pack our 2-bedroom apartment. We arrived in Astoria and they unloaded the truck in about 1.5hr while helping move stuff… Read more »

I have used moressey moving company two times, once in 2013 and now in 2016.

The recent move was within newport jersey city, between two buildings 10 minutes away.
Scheduling and rescheduling( due to snow storm) was easy and was done on the phone. Helen sent out certificate of insurance well ahead of time.

For 1 br apartment move, they sent 3 guys and 1 large truck. One guy stayed in the truck and Other two packed the furniture and moved it. They were careful with wrapping and moving of the furniture.
For our convenience we had rented plastic bins from them, which makes packing things lot easier.

All in all they are good value for money, professional moving co and no hidden costs. So the bill at the end of the move will come quite close to what you had estimated. Recommended.

I can be a tough critic sometimes, but am happy to give praise when it’s deserved, and I will say that these guys did a very good job when I moved out of Hoboken a couple months ago. Three guys really worked hard and got the job done in 5 hours, packed everything up well so that everything was unscathed. Helen who answers the phone is a little older and it can be kind of tricky to communicate with her, but the bottom line is that they honored the quote that they gave, and I was happy to tip them out for a job well done. Recommend.

By the way-just noticed the poster from June 17 referenced Brad and Eli; they, Corey and Paul were on my team–all did a great job.

After reading the comments about Morrissey’s Movers and Ralph’s responses, I called them up to pack me and my family up. Ralph personally came over to give the estimate–he was clear as to what needed to be done; how it needed to be done; the materials they would need and what I was responsible for; gave me the estimate-4 guys 12 hours, 1 guy watching the truck, etc.

The moving guys busted their rear ends–they worked hard throughout the day-there were pieces so heavy it took the four guys to move them; there was no slacking at all.
His estimate was spot on-it took every bit of 11 hours plus to move us. Others that posted here asking for discounts or having a beef with him or his company? The guy knows his business-based on my experience, they were out to get something for nothing. I highly recommend them and I’d use them again in a heartbeat.
