Yup, after reading all these comments I'm glad I spent St. Patty's Pukefest where I did: in a friend's country house in the Poconos. This is the one day every year I;m embarrassed to say I live here.

Bumping the stat time to 11 was a good idea. I think they should start having it on Sunday. That would curtail a lot of people drinking themselves into a coma if they have to go to work the next day. Love it or hate it. Hoboken Saint Patrick's Day is here to stay. But action is necessary to make it enjoyable for residents and non-residents alike.

My favorite overheard conversation was at about 1:20 pm on Washington St and a guy telling his two female friends that "some 'random' I made out with last year is texting me to meet her at at Oddfellows again...she hasn't called me in a fucking year! This day is going to be fucking awesome!" Ending with the girls high-fiving him.

Sigh. I am old.
It is downright dangerous to walk around town on parade day, with all the public pissing that went uncaught (really, how could you protect everyone's front yard with thousands of drunks wandering the town), open brawling and arrogant staggering.
Don't forget the out-of-towners on their cell phones, oblivious to the world around them, trying to coordinate with their buddies. "You're at... 10th and Washington? 9th and Grand? How do I get there?" as they wander around the intersection. I almost gave a linebacker's welcome to a few of them yesterday.

Re # 61" It is downright dangerous to walk around town on parade day, with all the public pissing that went uncaught"....LOL

Dangerous because of public urination? Were they trying to piss on you???

I just chanced upon some idiot about to urinate in the entryway to my building and I just said
"you ain't pissing here pal" and he zipped up and that was it. While I sure as hell don't want anyone urinating in front of my building, some of you seem fixated on that.....besides, the damn dogs all piss in the entryway anyway!!

This is the first year that I saw the parade. It was nice, the bagpipers were all great, but when the ambulance corps started with their sirens (as part of the parade) I walked back into the bar - I hear enough of that crap all night every night, no need to watch it during the day.

I saw a girl puking under an SUV at 12:45pm between 7th & 8th. Maybe if these kids ate before they started drinking they wouldn't look like such amateurs.

It's just sad to see people retarded drunk at 2 and 3 in the afternoon. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Sigh.

Seems like the buzz on the aftermath of the parade this is "it really wasn't that bad". Reality: having the bars open at 11 instead of 9 just changed what time the 20 somethings were stupid drunk. It is downright dangerous to walk around town on parade day, with all the public pissing that went uncaught (really, how could you protect everyone's front yard with thousands of drunks wandering the town), open brawling and arrogant staggering. And the cops are just walking around blithely and hassling double parkers to show they're "doing something". Total disgrace, the parade is wonderful but the law enforcement just isn't there, the city should just admit they can't or won't control the drunks and cancel the whole affair before someone is seriously injured and everyone acts shocked and calls it "an isolated incident". Oh, that's right, too much money changes hands for anything civil to be done about it. What a shameful, avoidable black eye for Hoboken the whole after parade party scene is.
