Valentine’s Day flowers?

2/12/2008:

hoboken-valentines-day-flowers-florist.jpgDo you buy flowers regularly? Or just for holidays, funerals or other infrequent occasions?

Naturally, the biggest day of the year for all florists is Valentine’s Day.

My bet is that over 50% of the readers will either purchase or receive some kind of arrangement during the next week.

So where do you purchase them from? A national company? Direct through a local Hoboken florist? The corner store? In Hoboken or out?

Let’s see where everyone buys them in today’s informal poll (feel free to add an answer):

My husband grows flowers for me in season.

We hardly ever buy cut flowers since I heard a story on the radio about how the not-necessarily-food-grade pesticides used to grow them in Central (or was it South?) America cause all kinds of horrible illnesses in the farm workers.

I will second Vera’s. I have gotten some of the most beautiful arrangements from there.

Garden’s Bloom would be my choice if they had a website, but it doesn’t. Vera’s is great, except when going outside their delivery area, then its 1-800-Flowers or Proflowers.com.
