Bow Tie Cinemas Hoboken NJ Movie TimesTwo new movies this weekend. One for the whole family, How to Train Your Dragon 2 (how soon before animations are exactly identical to “real life?”). And 22 Jump Street. Both are – you guessed it – sequels.

While I’m sure some of you might find the Jonah Hill / Channing Tatum movie entertaining, I chose to show this trailer – because it looks stupid and vulgar. Yeah, maybe a chuckle or two for some jokes, but it seems to be more a waste of time and money.

“After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.”

While one positive reviewer may have cracked the code as to why this is receiving such good audience reaction: “The movie always operates on two wavelengths – one a dumb movie sequel full of dumb movie clichés and the other a movie mocking those very clichés.”

On a side note – I’ll be reviewing a Blu-Ray movie that got downright horrific reviews next week for shits & giggles. You never know. It was cheap on Amazon (only $1!).
