The 243 Foundation for Seth Dembowitz

2/3/2008 Update:

In case anyone is wondering what the “243” stands for, it’s Seth’s pledge number at his fraternity “Phi Delt.” The number meant a lot to him, and he used it very often. So the family thought it was an ideal name for the foundation in his name.

2/2/2008:

The family of Seth Dembowitz, the man who died in Tuesday’s fire at 1203 Washington Street, has established The 243 Foundation in his honor. The 243 Foundation is a charitable fund to promote fire safety and awareness.

Additionally, services for Seth will be as follows:

The burial will take place immediately thereafter at:
I certainly don’t mean to rehash the horrible tragedy that Seth and his family have gone through, but i just read xax’s comment for the first time today and I wanted to mention that i, too, wonder why Seth’s roommate was not more thoroughly investigated. The combination of Seth’s roommates attitude and how not many questions were answered as to the start of the fire have never sat well with me either.
I lived in the building and wound up walking around with his roommate trying to find Seth that night. The roommate wasn’t home at the time of the fire and was desperately trying to find him that night as he was worried.

Unless, there was a 3rd roommate you can lay this put this conspiracy theory out to pasture. It’s cruel and untrue.
I live on the block where the fire happened and have heard various rumors over the last year involving everything from a meth lab operation being run from the apt. to a simple accidental unattended candle fire. Regardless; the fact that the hoboken authorities never got to the bottom of this incident, or at least release an cause and/or update on the investigation, is frankly in my opinion an insult to the young man that died. With what we pay these officials, citizens should demand nothing less.

The sad fact is, if this had happened in Tax-York City at least we’d know what the real story was and not be part of yet another cover-up.
Sunny — as far as I recall, and yes I have been looking, authorities never released any answers about the lady who was doing 60 mph down the viaduct, plowed into a car stopped at the light, and killing people.

That’s corrupt Hoboken for you. It’s never going to change until Roberts and all his fellow toads are out of office.
