60 Second Review: Boardwalk Fresh Burgers
Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries – “Upscale” fast food
Much to the delight of midtown Hoboken residents, Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries recently opened. We swung by to check it out last week.
Boardwalk franchise with Hoboken “flair”
For one, Boardwalk is a relatively obscure franchise, with less than 20 locations in seven states. The Hoboken spot at 832 Washington St. is the first in New Jersey. What the owners of the Hoboken Boardwalk liked about this franchise model – is the fact that they were able to “localize” the menu items somewhat, and partner with other local suppliers. Most other franchises are not that flexible.
And what separates Boardwalk from other fast food places, is that everything is made fresh, and by hand. Burgers are not frozen, and the fries are cut daily. You can definitely tell the difference.
For purposes of this quick review – we sampled their most popular burger, with avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, etc. Along with a interesting fry choice: Garlic and Parmesan cheese.
The burger was quite flavorful, and the fries – be careful, they’re addictive (almost too tasty!) Share if you must!
I guess the only place you can compare Boardwalk to in Hoboken is Five Guys. And taste-for-taste, Boardwalk wins unanimously.
Plus, this place is extremely kid-friendly, as each tike gets some coloring instruments to keep them busy (if they’re not already submerged in their iPad).
The staff was courteous and friendly (they bring the food out to your table using a “numbering” system.)
All in all, a simple, yet welcome addition to the neighborhood.
