60 Second Review: Boardwalk Fresh Burgers

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries – “Upscale” fast food

Much to the delight of midtown Hoboken residents, Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries recently opened. We swung by to check it out last week.

Boardwalk franchise with Hoboken “flair”

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries Hoboken NJ 60 Second ReviewFor one, Boardwalk is a relatively obscure franchise, with less than 20 locations in seven states. The Hoboken spot at 832 Washington St. is the first in New Jersey. What the owners of the Hoboken Boardwalk liked about this franchise model – is the fact that they were able to “localize” the menu items somewhat, and partner with other local suppliers. Most other franchises are not that flexible.

And what separates Boardwalk from other fast food places, is that everything is made fresh, and by hand. Burgers are not frozen, and the fries are cut daily. You can definitely tell the difference.

For purposes of this quick review – we sampled their most popular burger, with avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, etc. Along with a interesting fry choice: Garlic and Parmesan cheese.

The burger was quite flavorful, and the fries – be careful, they’re addictive (almost too tasty!) Share if you must!

I guess the only place you can compare Boardwalk to in Hoboken is Five Guys. And taste-for-taste, Boardwalk wins unanimously.

Plus, this place is extremely kid-friendly, as each tike gets some coloring instruments to keep them busy (if they’re not already submerged in their iPad).

The staff was courteous and friendly (they bring the food out to your table using a “numbering” system.)

All in all, a simple, yet welcome addition to the neighborhood.

I went the other day and I thought the burger was pretty decent. I liked the bun a lot. Had that eggy fresh taste. The fries were okay . I am not into the peanut oil so much. I will say the one negative for me was the really loud music. Even though the name is boardwalk we are not at the Jersey shore. It’s one thing if it is one in the morning but in the middle of the work week it is too loud.

Kind of ironic the place is named Boardwalk and they didn’t even have any other locations in NJ.

kind of moronic that someone would assume that NJ is the only state with boardwalks…Oh, let’s take Ocean City, Md as one place with boardwalks…WHERE THE INSPIRATION FOR THE PLACE CAME FROM
Kind of ironic the place is named Boardwalk and they didn’t even have any other locations in NJ.
Atlantic City’s boardwalk was built 32 years before Ocean City, Maryland’s. NJ is home to the nation’s first boardwalks.
kind of moronic that someone would assume that NJ is the only state with boardwalks…Oh, let’s take Ocean City, Md as one place with boardwalks…WHERE THE INSPIRATION FOR THE PLACE CAME FROM
