Hoboken City Council Meeting of May 7, 2014
More of the same this week. Here’s a few noteworthy items:
- The city is meddling with the much-desired-by-parents Charter Schools (including wasting property taxpayer funds in a fruitless lawsuit). Some council members want them to drop the case. (This of course, gets dropped to practically the end of the meeting – by design.)
- City wants to borrow $2 million to “re-surface” some roads. Doesn’t sound too bad, but this doesn’t include a formidable plan to prevent rapid deterioration of said freshly paved roads within a matter of months.
- And of course the city can’t “live within its means” and needs “emergency appropriations” once again. Doesn’t matter who’s running the show – this happens all the time. (Translation: Governments big and small over-reach and over-spend – always.)
