Hoboken Playdate

Hoboken PlayDate – 420 Adams Street

Filling the space left behind by the Russo Civic Association at 420 Adams Street is Hoboken PlayDate – another place to outsource the formative years of your child! Perhaps you can call it a “Baby Social Club?”

I remember the buzz-phrases about a decade ago in Hoboken sounded like “all we have are nail salons, dry cleaners and realtors.”

Now that phrase can be updated: “Daycare centers, Coffee Shops, Barbers and (even more) Realtors.

I spoke to the owner the other day.

The inspiration was seeing moms and kids in Starbucks. How inconsiderate it was to other patrons.

Hoboken play date is place for parents to gather and have coffee that is an appropriate place to go with kids.

It is not a place to go and drop your kidding at.

The word Playdate does imply a parent or guardian along with a child. I agree though if the kids are just dropped off, then whatever the activity is, the formative years are outsourced. As an active tot of a busy mother I hated being dropped off (and picked up late) for activities with other kids whose mothers were there.

Where do most of you want moms to have a cuppa while with their kids. This place or Starbucks?
