Best Hoboken Burger 2008

1/29/2008:

Getting hungry for lunch?

Well then I have the perfect poll for you (or is it? Don’t they say “never food shop while hungry?”)

Anyway, in the fall of 2006, which were the early days of Hoboken411, there was a “best Hoboken burger” poll. Black Bear and Ted & Jo’s tied for first place. I wonder if the results would be different today?

I’ve started the poll again, with some of the top vote-getters, as well as a few suggestions of my own. Vote or add your own favorite.

Who will win this time?

So I tried the City Burger Pat Lafrieda Black Label burger last night at 39th and Broadway.

For those that don’t know Pat Lafrieda has made a name for himself for taking his higher end cuts of meat and grinding them for burgers. The Black Label meat is supposed to be the best. La Frieda’s also serves up burger meat for Shake Shack, Little Owl, and the Spotted Pig.

I have to say, while it was very good, it really wasn’t my cup of tea. While the meat tasted great it was a little too dense a burger for me.

The place was very nondescript and you would never think this place served up a 12 dollar burger, no including fries. It looked like a fast food joint.

For those really into burgers I recommend you read the A Hamburger Today blog….

Lots of great reviews. They convinced me that I have to go to Shopsin’s and try their burger next.

Who makes the best mini-burgers in town? 10th & Willow’s are very good. Buskers, also good. Black Bear? Ug.
