HPU Hypocrisy of the Day – 3/10/2014
Hoboken HPU Hypocrisy of the Day – March 10, 2014
Continuing the new “HPU Hypocrisy of the Day” category, here’s a shot of a yet another DAILY occurrence: A CITY HALL EMPLOYEE’S vehicle parked illegally, while they have a sign on their dash that says “official”
monkey business. And the “HPU” (Hoboken Pickpocketing Underworld) ignored it.
Read below to see what Hoboken resident Brian had to say (he sent it to City Hall as well):
Hoboken city employees arrogant and entitled
“This personal car belonging to someone in the clerk office is currently illegally parked outside of city hall on the northwest corner of Bloomfield and First streets. There is a placard proclaiming that this essential worker is on official business. I guess just going to work and not wanting to look for legal parking now qualifies as being on official business and entitles him/her to break the law, endanger pedestrians, and make navigating intersections more difficult. I witnessed one HPU employee who obviously knows the car walk right past it. I asked another who was facilitating a tow down the street why it wasn’t ticketed. He said it should be but he didn’t have a ticket machine to do so. He told me to call HPU. I did and was transferred to a director, whose voicemail doesn’t take messages.
At what point are we taxpayers supposed to go along with these ridiculous shenanigans and sense of entitlement of city workers running around this town like its their little personal kingdoms? The arrogance and contempt towards an average taxpayer is disgusting. Do your job HPU even if it means ticketing your colleagues there in city hall!”
Created out of need – this section features the blatant hypocrisy in the Hoboken city government. Get this – Parking “laws” were created under the guise that it is either for “safety of residents, drivers and pedestrians,” or to “make parking more fair for law abiding citizens.”
The city, however – VIOLATES those very same laws. The bottom line is THEY DON’T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT SAFETY. They just want your MONEY.
