Then a couple years ago – mega chain 7 Eleven opened up directly across the street. (Who at City Hall allowed such an idiotic placement anyway?)

Originally, the owner of Hoboken Daily News was worried – but he’s doing fine now, thanks to his contingent of loyal regulars.

If doing a large amount of grocery shopping, I go to the A&P in Jersey City(the Hbk one is one of the most poorly stocked stores I’ve ever walked into). When it comes to mid-week touch up shopping for a few ingredients or beer, then I try and go to Blue Ribbon on 1st because they are always nice, helpful and it is a genuine family run operation. I will stop into one of the Prime stores for the cheap coffee and some items that Blue Ribbon doesn’t carry.

of course..the key is to run to the convience store for that qt of milk and or play the pick it .Other than that food shopping is for major outlets and not local stores..with critters running around under the display cases…Just make sure to check expiration dates on milk and other items…convienence is the key and not 150.00 worth of shopping.
If doing a large amount of grocery shopping, I go to the A&P in Jersey City(the Hbk one is one of the most poorly stocked stores I’ve ever walked into). true classy but at the time 8 years ago the rent for quick check was said to be 17 k.and that’s why barnes noble bolted…these mid eastern stores are owned by a conglomerate sorry if typo..put the cash in a bag and not one owner owns a store..guess we can learn from shrewd business people from the mid east..secondly always check last date of sale on items for they shop at shoprite as A@P..a few cents more dosent matter to some..the convienence is ok .no cold cuts just canned products..such is life
Quick chek was good while it lasted. you said it joey–I bought a half gallon of milk from a ‘local’ store w/o looking at the expiration date.. it’s the last time I’ll make that mistake! was over a week past expiration with a stench to prove it.
true classy but at the time 8 years ago the rent for quick check was said to be 17 k.and that’s why barnes noble bolted…these mid eastern stores are owned by a conglomerate sorry if typo..put the cash in a bag and not one owner owns a store..guess we can learn from shrewd business people from the mid east..secondly always check last date of sale on items for they shop at shoprite as few cents more dosent matter to some..the convienence is ok .no cold cuts just canned products..such is life
